The Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics invites applications to the

Otto Warburg International Summer School and Research Symposium on
Transcription Factors and their Role in Establishing and Maintaining Cellular Identity

This summer school brings together researchers and PhD students from different backgrounds (including molecular biology, bioinformatics, genetics, mathematics) to discuss recent advances in gene regulation in the context of differentiation.

Lectures will bridge from text book knowledge to where current research starts, and seminars will present current research in the field. A practical will acquaint bioinformaticians with the experimental side of the topic and experimental biologists with the bioinformatics. The summer school will also give students a chance to present their projects and interact with the speakers.

Topics to be covered are:
  • Epigenetic regulation and chromatin architecture
  • Computational and genomic approaches to understanding gene regulation
  • Role of TFs in establishing cellular identity
  • Molecular settings of organ development
  • Heart development, function and aging
  • Cardiac iPSCs for disease modeling and drug discovery
  • The interplay between cis-regulatory elements and TFs
