Getting Started with Proteomics

The unit and its services are accessible to all scientists of the BIH, Charité and MDC for proteomics service projects. Services for external users and profit organizations/industry can be discussed on request, capacity permitting.

We are offering mass spectrometry as well as targeted Olink analyses. Custom analyses not described, including establishing emerging technologies or new methods might be possible on a collaborative basis. Please reach out to us!

Project-specific cost contributions by internal user groups are charged according to the current cost models for all projects covering consumables and personnel. All other core unit infrastructure costs are contributed by the involved institutes.

Our basic services include routine sample processing, data generation and storage and quality control procedures. Additional services such as help with study design, further development of sample processing or LC-MS methods, tailored bioinformatic analyses, data interpretation and assistance in the preparation of manuscripts are offered where feasible on a collaboration basis.

To initiate a project:

  1. Please read our Terms & Conditions detailing many important aspects 
     

  2. Please start filling our Project Description Form.
    This does not need to be complete, final, or exhaustive. However, enough information to get an idea of the project makes first contact for us a lot easier and can streamline the starting process.

  3. Project Planning Meeting:
    Before submitting samples or processing payments, a project planning meeting is required. In the project planning meeting users/collaborators and core unit scientists discuss the research project and hypothesis in detail and identify the best-suited proteomics options for your project. 
     
  4. Finalize Project Plan:
    After the meeting and discussion concluded, please finalize the Project Description Form. Additionally, BIH and Charité Users must complete an OpenIris Project Application Form determining which institute is carrying the overhead charges.
