Gesche Joost

Prof. Dr. Gesche Joost conducts research and development projects in the areas of human-computer-interaction, wearable computing, as well as user-centered design and participation internationally. She is a professorat the Berlin University of the Arts and heads the Design Research Lab and is research director for Interactive Textiles at DFKI, since 2016., and assistant professor for Interaction Design & Media at the Technical University of Berlin (2007 – 2010) growing the Design & Usability group at Telekom Innovation Laboratories.  Gesche was appointed by the Federal Government of Germany as Digital Champion for the EU commission (2014-2018), and is an expert advisor, board and superivsory board member for many organisations (notibly, the Federal Government of Germany, German Society for Design Theory and Research, German National Academic Foundation, SAP SE, ING DiBa AG and Ottobock SE & Co. KGaA). She is a co-founder of the not-for-profit company Calliope engaging in digital education for school children in Germany.

Simone Spuler

Simone Spuler ist die Leiterin der Abteilung für Muskelforschung und der Hochschulambulanz für Muskelkrankheiten am Experimental and Clinical Research Center (ECRC) in Berlin-Buch. Nach ihrem Studium der Medizin in Würzburg, Harvard und Baltimore erhielt sie ein DFG-Forschungsstipendium für das Laboratory of Mucosal Immunology an der University of California, San Diego. Anschließend verbrachte sie zwei Jahre als klinische Forscherin an der Mayo Klinik in Rochester, USA. Ihre berufliche Qualifikation (Habilitation) schloss sie 1995 ab. Seit 2008 ist sie Professorin am Institut für Biologie, Chemie, Pharmazie der Freien Universität Berlin. Sie forscht schwerpunktmäßig zum Verständnis von Zellprozessen bei Muskeldystrophie, Muskelregeneration und -alterung und insbesondere zur Entwicklung neuer Therapien.

Ida Beerhalter

Ida Beerhalter is Co-head of IOME, a private investment partnership of women principals from the Gulf region with its head office in Riyadh, KSA. Additionally, Mrs. Beerhalter also serves as Member of the Board, Trustee, Advisor and Expert to various for-profit and not-for-profit organizations around the globe (amongst others Astia USA, Auma Obama Foundation Sauti Kuu Germany & Kenya, Omnia Strategy UK, , First Light Trust UK, WIP — Women in Parliaments Global Forum Switzerland, slavefreetrade.org Switzerland, Yunus Social Business GmbH Germany, Social Business Earth Switzerland, TBLI Group The Netherlands, Charité Foundation Summit Germany). She is specialized in a wide range of issues including, social business, entrepreneurship, impact investment, gender inclusiveness, women empowerment, investment in emerging markets and wealth management, family governance and succession planning.

Louise Pilote

Louise Pilote is one of the few physicians to have specialized in social gender differences in cardiovascular research. To date, most research approaches have focused exclusively on biological sex differences, neglecting the impact of cultural gender roles. Pilote considers these criteria in her research, using a “gender score” she developed to investigate the possible effects of gender differences when it comes to medical issues such as cardiovascular diseases and to develop therapeutic approaches.
