Training Process

The training for IT specialists in system integration at BIH is organized by the "Ausbildungsverbund Fachinformatik Berlin (afib)". In the first year of training, afib teaches fundamental knowledge and provides extensive preparation for the intermediate exam (Final Exam 1) and the final exam (Final Exam 2).

The training typically lasts 3 years and is complemented by attending vocational school.

Practical training at BIH begins from the 11th month of the apprenticeship.

The responsible vocational school is the "Oberstufenzentrum Informations- und Medizintechnik" (OSZ IMT), Haarlemer Straße 23-27, 12359 Berlin.

The vocational school lessons take place every three weeks on a weekly basis (block lessons).
In the first 10 months, your training will take place at the "Ausbildungsverbund Fachinformatik Berlin (afib)". The courses are offered at various training locations. The main office is located at the "Freie Universität Berlin", Campus Lankwitz, Malteserstr. 74-100, 12249 Berlin. After the introductory phase, the practical training will be conducted at BIH, located in the heart of Berlin.

Vocational school and practical phases at BIH alternate.

This is why the training programme is also known as "dual vocational training" combining practical experience at BIH with theoretical education at vocational school (German: Berufsschule).
The training at BIH is compensated according to the TVAöD.

TVAöD stands for "Tarifvertrag für Auszubildende im öffentlichen Dienst," which translates to the collective agreement for trainees in the public service. It defines the salary, working conditions, and benefits for trainees employed in public-sector organizations in Germany.
The apprenticeship includes a weekly working time of 38.5 hours.
