By resolution of the Senate on June 16, 2020:

Today, the Senate of the State of Berlin, on the submission of the Governing Mayor of Berlin and the Senator for Science and Research, Michael Müller, appointed Prof. Dr. Lina Badimon, Director of the Cardiovascular Research Center in Barcelona, as a new member of the Supervisory Board of the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH).

Prof. Badimon is the newly elected Chair of the BIH Scientific Advisory Board and in this role has a seat on the BIH Supervisory Board. She succeeds Prof. Dr. Stefanie Dimmeler from Goethe University Frankfurt, who had chaired the Scientific Advisory Board since October 2017. Prof. Badimon became a member of the Scientific Advisory Board in April 2019. Her expertise is especially relevant for the BIH’s new focus area of vascular biomedicine, which aims to advance research on the malfunctions of the vascular system.

The Scientific Advisory Board is a panel of outside international experts who advise the Executive and Supervisory Boards of the BIH on scientific matters. The law establishing the BIH stipulates that the Chair of the elected Scientific Advisory Board has a seat on the BIH Supervisory Board. It also provides that the formal appointment is made by a resolution of the Senate.
