Our funding programs for translational research

BIH offers scientists at different stages of their careers a broad spectrum of funding opportunities. Some program lines are funded by the Stiftung Charité as part of its Johanna Quandt Private Excellence Initiative.

BIH Johanna Quandt Professorships

Stiftung Charité and the BIH are supporting the establishment of up to four BIH Johanna Quandt Professorships - Open Topic, Tenure Track, for Women Scientists.

BIH Excellence Award for Sex and Gender Aspects in Health Research

The awards recognizes research excellence among scientists working in the field of biomedicine, who integrate sex and/or gender aspects into their research.

Validation Fund/SPARK-BIH

The validation fund supports innovative projects of high translational potential at the BIH, Charité and MDC.

BIH Digital Health Accelerator Program

The objective of the Digital Health Accelerator is to provide end-to-end, hands-on support to innovators at BIH, Charité and MDC in translating research results and discoveries in the area of digital health into medical applications.

BIH Charité Clinician Scientist Program

The Clinician Scientist Program is a modern career pathway within academic medicine that allows physicians to pursue a structured residency with time set aside for clinical and basic research.

Inventors for Health (I4H)

The I4H pilot program is a new initiative of the Stiftung Charité and SPARK Berlin and is intended to support inventors in further developing an idea through a two-stage program.

BIH Paper of the Month

The BIH Paper of the Month is awarded by the BIH Board of Directors to honor a special publication achievement from the joint research space of Charité and MDC.
