The term translation has become established in the life sciences. However, a precise definition or exact framework conditions for the successful transfer of results from basic research into clinical practice have yet to be established.

Successful translation is the effective and rapid transfer of promising research results into medical applications. Findings from basic medical research must prove themselves in clinical practice and, in the case of limited success, lead to "reverse translation" - from the laboratory bench to the bedside and back. To achieve successful translation, all stakeholders involved must work together, share their experiences, and identify common challenges.

The Translate! conferences therefore address these key questions:

  • How can different stakeholders join forces to advance translational research?
  • What factors determine the success of a translation researcher?
  • How can stakeholders from universities, industry and politics increasingly attract scientists to patient-oriented research and strive to improve the health care system?
