Immune system defects and dysfunctions in tumor patients
Il-Kang Na
Our work focuses on disease- and therapy-induced effects on immune cells, tumor cells and their interaction, and immune reconstitution after tumor treatments.
We aim for "next generation staging" to capture and better understand the dynamic changes under conventional chemotherapy, targeted therapies and immunotherapies. To this end, we are studying longitudinally, comprehensively and functionally the changes in the immune system and tumor caused by the applied therapy.
The goals are to gain critical individualized information for tailored treatments - combination strategies, selection of specific patient cohorts, novel targets - and to develop innovative strategies to restore immune competence after therapy.
