The main purpose of the study is to gain scientific knowledge. All surveys and examinations are conducted with the aim of scientifically determining and monitoring the health status of patients with metabolic and cardiovascular diseases and investigating long-term changes. Therefore, there is no direct medical benefit associated with participation and donation of samples and data.

Medical progress is the direct result of scientific research. For example, intensive research and the knowledge gained from it has led to a very significant improvement in the course of treatment of many acute vascular diseases in the last 10 to 15 years. Today, many patients already benefit from this, but unfortunately far from all of them. Some of the reasons for this are not yet known, and many of them are certainly individual. The goal of the new research field of so-called personalized medicine, to which the BeLOVE study also belongs, is to do better justice to the individuality of people. Today's availability of the most modern computer capacities makes it possible to evaluate a huge amount of medical data, which until recently was hardly imaginable, and thus to identify precise risk patterns for certain courses of disease and treatment. People who suffer from such investigated diseases in the future will benefit from this.

However, a common feature of conventional clinical observational studies with this new type of study is that their success depends crucially on a large number of people voluntarily agreeing to participate in studies and completing them as fully as possible. The treatment of various disease, would not be possible in its current form without the commitment of these volunteers. We believe that BeLOVE has the greatest potential to significantly improve the treatment of patients suffering from the same or similar diseases in the future.

There is no cost to participate in BeLOVE. During their stay at the CTU, our participants will be provided with drinks and snacks from the bistro. In addition, there is a patient fee, graded according to the choice of participation program. Another advantage is that in this research project you will be examined very extensively with medical and scientific procedures. After participating in an on-site visit, you will receive the following on the day of your examination:

  • Written findings on blood values,
  • MRI images of the head and heart as well as lung function for submission to your family doctor.

Where appropriate, you will also receive information about results that are directly relevant to your health during a detailed consultation with your physician.
