Alexandra is a biotechnologist and works in the group of Prof. Buttgereit at the Charité-Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Currently, her research focuses on the development of a multicomponent human in vitro 3D joint model to gain deeper insights into the underlying mechanisms of musculoskeletal disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis. Deetje is a neuroscientist and neurologist in training at the Charité-Universitätsmedizin and Berlin School of Mind and Brain. For her doctoral thesis, she examined how lifestyle-interventions modulate hippocampal neurogenesis and spatial memory in adult mice. Her current research focusses on spatial memory consolidation in humans with (temporary) hippocampal dysfunction using VR and real-life experimental settings as well as imaging methods like resting-state-fMRI. Beyond memory research, she is interested in digital health interventions and study medical computer science as part-time-student at the Beuth-Hochschule.

Hung is a PhD fellow working in the labs of Friedrich Johenning & Dietmar Schmitz at Charité. He wants to know why it’s so difficult to stop binge eating, so he uses some advanced microscope techniques to study a nutritional behavioural paradigm in mice. Evelyn is a biologist and neuroscientist by training with the quest to deepening our understanding of human behaviour from a biological perspective. In her PhD project in the working group of PD Dr. Veronica Witte (MPI CBS, Dept. Neurology) She is investigating food-decision making and its connection to the gut-brain-axis in humans with a focus on plant-based diets. Other activities in the academic world are the coordination of the Max Planck Sustainability Network and the Mental Health Collective of the Max Planck Society. Both initiatives aim to making academia more sustainable for the individual and for the environment.

Marta is a PhD researcher studying how blood vessels form during embryonic development, and the role of the microtubule dynamics and detyrosination in this process. She works with zebrafish, as they are transparent and easy to image, and their blood vessels are comparable to humans. Marta is passionate about transforming the academic environment into a kinder, inclusive and exciting place to work that allows for everyone to be who they want to. She collaborates with Dragonfly mental health to improve mental health of scientists worldwide as well as working locally against power abuse by designing policies to combat it.

Constantin Yves is a psychologist interested in psychometrics, research synthesis, open science, and digital health interventions. He works as a research assistant at the AG Psychometrics and Health Outcomes Research under the supervision of Felix Fischer investigating health-related quality of life, computer adaptive tests, and ways to improve digital sovereignty of patients. He is also a doctoral candidate at VU Amsterdam conducting research synthesis and meta-research on digital health interventions with Pim Cuijpers and Eirini Karyotaki.
Andrea Salazar Lázaro

Andrea is a PhD student working on how the molecular vesicle release machinery manages to fuse synaptic vesicles propagate neuronal signals and communication. She also works on bettering interpersonal aspects of academia, such as the communication between student and mentor, creating an open space for students to share their experiences, offering support to each other, or creating awareness on issues such as mental health, power abuse or discrimination. Currently, she does this through the Charité PhD-Net platform, composed of other PhD students sharing similar interests and concerns.

Philipp is a PhD student interested in the processing of meaningful and neutral sounds during sleep. He is using a conditioning paradigm together with EEG/EMG recordings in mice. Additionally he is interested in improving science and the structures supporting science. Hence, he is a member of the PhDnet of the Charité and part of the Meta-research course organized by the Berlin University Alliance.
