Dr. Felix Fischer, PROM2PRO

The assessment of health from the patients' perspective is a cornerstone of medical research. Despite questionnaires have often quite similar content, the data collected is hardly comparable. Calibrating these questionnaires on a common scale establishes standard scales for patient-reported outcomes. The aim of this project is to make already collected data available for validation and development of such common metrics. This will be done by providing a web application to collect study metadata and raw data, and make those more readily available for research.

What is the main goal of your project?

I’d like to facilitate access to already-collected data for the purpose of standardized measurement model development and validation. This will be a bit like a Wiki platform which collects studies, extracts relevant data and links data and researchers.

What are you most proud of so far?

I have been able to code a fairly complex Rails software application.

What have been your greatest challenges so far?

The underlying data structure in my project is complex and there are many design decisions to make that sometimes have unexpected consequences.

What are your plans in the coming months?

I want to get the website up and running, get peer review on it, and have someone use it for beneficial projects!
