NUM-COMPASS

In COMPASS, scientists from a wide range of disciplines from university hospitals join forces with partners from science and industry in an interdisciplinary project and jointly develop a coordination and technology platform for pandemic applications. The goal is to ensure that apps are effective in pandemic response by allowing them to be used by many people due to their interoperability and by allowing collected data to be reused multiple times.

  • Defines guidelines and best practives for how health apps to combat a pandemic (hereafter, pandemic apps) cann be used in the most effective, efficient, and research-compatible manner
  • Provides network partners with sample documents and contract templates in order to be able to use pandemic apps in a legally secure manner
  • Provides assistance and advice to network partners with a need for pandemic apps provides assistance and guidance on requirements and options
  • Provides app developers with methods and tools to develop and expand apps for the management and better understanding of the pandemic in a research-compatible manner, thus ensuring that the collected data can be used jointly in the Network University Medicine (NUM) according to the standards already set (HL7 FHIR, SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10 GM)
  • Provide reference implementations (native app and web app) under an open source license with the aim of maintaining these apps in the long term for coordinated use and the fastest possible adaptation in the event of new pandemics
