T-CABS

Telemedical center for out-of-hospital ventilation and oxygen therapy

Telemedical center for out-of-hospital ventilation and oxygen therapy

"The number of home-ventilated patients has been increasing for years and is leading to a bottleneck in care provided on an inpatient basis or in specialist outpatient clinics. The quality of care is inadequate due to time-consuming journeys and waiting times.

Telemedicine should help to significantly improve care for out-of-hospital patients.

Methodological approach: T-CABS pursues the overarching project goal of reducing unplanned contacts with the healthcare system, hospital days, outpatient appointments, patient transportation and thus healthcare costs in the Berlin/Brandenburg region.

This is to be achieved by means of telemedical care through

1. increasing therapy adherence compared to ventilation therapy

2. stabilization of pulmonary function and improvement of physical condition

3. increasing the quality of life, self-determination and safety of use for patients

4. improving cross-sector collaboration and communication, and

5. development and testing of diagnostic signatures using machine learning to support future telemedicine.

The intervention and control groups of the prospective, longitudinal intervention study will be compared using qualitative and quantitative process analysis with regard to the primary endpoint and secondary endpoints. Implementation potential: All relevant hurdles to the implementation of telemedicine in standard care have already been overcome (e.g. diabetes mellitus, heart failure)." (Source: Innovationsfonds)
