BIH Lecture

Society's expectations of universities and research institutions regarding their contribution to solving major challenges are growing. Driven by performance comparisons and profile debates, universities and research institutions are repeatedly asked  to systematically assess and present their knowledge exchange achievements and cooperative relationships. This requires suitable quantitative and qualitative indicators for different transfer profiles. In the project Transferbarometer, a group of five universities and six Helmholtz-Centers have developed a transfer concept to clarify the range of possible transfer and cooperation activities as well as institutional preconditions. They have also identified and tested possible indicators to assess, present and communicate their knowledge exchange achievements. The Transferbarometer can help institutions to develop a knowledge exchange profile along their institutional strengths and further develop a knowledge exchange and cooperation culture. The lecture will present the key results of the project and discuss its possible use for institutional leadership, transfer professionals and researchers.

About the Speaker

Andrea Frank is Deputy Secretary General and Member of the Executive Board at Stifterverband. Stifterverband is a private, non-profit think tank and funding organization supported by private donations and membership contributions of the business sector. For over 15 years she designed and implemented higher education and science projects at the interface of science and research, the business sector and society. Today, she is responsible for the focus of all program activities at Stifterverband in the fields of education, science and innovation. Andrea Frank is a member of the University Council of the University of Applied Sciences Ostwestfalen Lippe - and an expert in various programs at federal and state level.
