The Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) is a biomedical research institution focusing on translational research and precision medicine. BIH uses a systems medicine approach to develop innovative options for prediction, prevention and advanced therapies for progressive diseases in order to improve patients’ health and quality of life. To realize its innovative plans in translational research, BIH builds on the strengths and expertise of its founding institutions Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association (MDC).
NeuroCure is a Cluster of Excellence at the Charité ‑ Universitätsmedizin Berlin and an interdisciplinary research network in the neurosciences focusing on neurological and psychiatric disorders with the aim of better understanding disease mechanisms and developing new therapies.
In order to establish the »BrainLab« module within the NeuroCure Clinical Research Center and therewith to strengthen translational research in the field of neurosciences in Berlin, BIH and Charité/NeuroCure will jointly establish a junior research group and invite applications for the following position:

The planned junior research group is to be established at the direct interface between clinical care of in-patients, acute, seriously ill patients with the involvement of surgery, emergency room, intensive care unit and imaging on the one hand and basic science groups using human material and data on the other.

The holder of the position should be a clinical scientist who is expected to develop new diagnostic methods and improved therapies in a clinical environment through the use of multimodal data sets, machine learning models and prediction methods. A particular focus will be on the data warehouse concept for extraction of clinically relevant information and patient‑oriented research e.g. at the Neuro‑Intensive Care Unit in cooperation with the Department of Neurology.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must have an excellent track record demonstrating the quality and translational relevance of their research
  • Applicants must hold a doctorate in medicine e.g. M.D., Dr. med. (clinician scientist)
