RoSignOL: Robust Signature of Life
A Gene regulatory network-centric collection of robust and scalable frameworks for the analysis of high-throughput datasets.
High-throughput sequencing is the de facto state-of-the-art for quantifying variations in expression across multi-omics (transcriptomics, epigenetics, proteomics), and across resolutions (bulk, single-cell, spatial). We propose the RoSignOL framework [Robust Signature of Life], which comprises packages that deliver robust, reproducible, generalisable and scalable optimised approaches for processing high-throughput datasets. The common element across all workflows is represented by the assessment of dynamics and causality of gene regulatory networks, inferred across modalities, and linking these to observed phenotypes of clinical information. All packages benefit from interactive Shiny interfaces which facilitate live exploratory analyses and support the identification and prioritisation of biological hypotheses for further downstream studies.

About the Speaker
Irina Mohorianu is Head of Bioinformatics/ Scientific Computing at the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute, University of Cambridge, UK. With a background in computer science, and a strong interest in data science and machine learning approaches, she led the development of several highly scalable, interactive frameworks for the analysis of high-throughput datasets across modalities. These were applied successfully on various datasets, leading to the discovery of bi-phenotypic cells in liver (Gribben et al 2024, Nature), and disease-associated radial glia (Peruzzotti-Jametti et al 2024, Nature, Park et al 2025, Neuron) in brain.
