Talking Biography - Prof. Dr. Maritta Perälä-Heape (Oulu/Finland)

Early- and intermediate-career women scientists are offered the opportunity to network with a distinguished researcher or a person active in the field of technology transfer. During this open, informal seminar, we will discuss topics such as career planning, reconciliation of work and family life, but also moments of success and challenges of the career path with our guest.
Maritta Perälä-Heape is a professor of practice in data-enabled health care solutions and innovation ecosystems and director at the Center for Health and Technology at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Oulu/Finland.
The main role as a professor of practice (POP) is to transfer the knowhow from outside of university into the university community, as well as strengthen the impact of research in the society by combining different fields of research into novel multidisciplinary R&D&I partnerships. In this role, Maritta Perälä-Heape is developing a collaborative data-driven health innovation ecosystem with sustainable data practices and data management processes. Her passion is to get people in the center of the healthcare reform and promote data driven healthcare towards personalized, predictive and participatory models.
She is a member in several national or international expert groups, policy boards or steering committees, such as, Scientific Advisory Board member of Berlin Institute of Health, Germany; Executive Board member of the Reference Site Collaborate Network (RSCN) for EIP-AHA reference sites, Board of Directors of the Digital Health Society.
