Join us for a special event to honor the lives lost to anti-trans* violence. We will explore the significance of this day and hear from speakers about trans* identities, rights, and struggles, as well as gain insights into recent news and changes in social and medical aspects and discuss the participation of trans* people in research and studies.

What to Expect:

  • Welcome and Opening Remarks by Karin Höhne, Head of Equal Opportunity and Diversity at BIH, along with Vartan and Tomer, PhD students at BSRT. They will review the history of Trans* Day of Remembrance and discuss its relevance today.
  • Keynote Lecture by Tut Bar, trans* activist and psychotherapist. In their talk titled "Trans* Beyond Pathologisation," Tut will discuss the journey towards affirming trans* identities in healthcare, the historical context of pathologization, recent progress in depathologisation, and the impact on societal acceptance.
  • Talk with Charlotte Krumbholz, Representative for Gender Diversity at Charité, followed by a Q&A about the new self-determination law and Charité's engagement.
  • Performance by Angel Maxin: The first Ghanaian trans* activist and singer-songwriter will share her experiences and voice with us.
