A practical introduction to quantitative shotgun proteomics

Professor Dr. Matthias Selbach, MDC (matthias.selbach@mdc-berlin.de )

Quantitative shotgun (that is, mass spectrometry‐based) proteomics has become a very valuable
technology in biomedical research. However, most scientists that are interested in proteomic
analyses for their own research projects are not familiar with important concepts of this approach.
The goal of this course is to fill this gap. We will introduce the key concepts of the technology,
provide hands‐on tips for sample preparation and show how proteomic data can be analyzed
bioinformatically. The goal is to provide participants with the required knowledge to successfully
plan and execute proteomics projects.
