CAMARADES (Collaborative Approach to Meta-Analysis and Review of Animal Data from Experimental Studies) Berlin applies and supports systematic review and meta-analysis of preclinical studies to investigate challenges in the translation of biomedical research.

These meta-research tools provide a summary of research findings and allow evaluation of both the range and quality of evidence addressing specific research questions. The results can help inform decision-making and the development of improvement strategies for preclinical research and translation.

Our Facility for the Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Animal Studies provides Charité and BIH researchers with education and training on systematic review of animal studies, and methodological support to perform robust, high-quality reviews.

Additionally, we review published Charité and BIH animal studies to benchmark quality and 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement) criteria, identify opportunities for improvement strategies, and monitor their impact over time. We aim to support higher quality, more ethical animal research, which is more likely to translate to benefit in human patients.

Background

Our Systematic Review Facility, resources, and education program are supported by Charité 3R. For more information about the 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction and Refinement) at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, visit the Charité 3R Toolbox.

Our Services

  • WIKI for animal systematic reviews

Find out more about every step in the preclinical systematic review and meta-analysis process along with links to resources and further reading, available at www.camarades.de.

  • Workshop

We offer regular hands-on workshops for students and researchers as well as bespoke courses for individual research groups:

    • Introduction to Systematic Review & Meta Analysis of Animal Studies

In this workshop, you will learn the key steps required to conduct a systematic review and meta-analysis of preclinical animal studies. Until further notice, this is an online workshop with a mix of lectures, practical exercises and tutorials. To learn more and register, please click here.

  • eLearning

You can also learn about Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Animal Studies at your own pace by taking our eLearning course. Take a single module or multiple modules to suit your needs.

Each module consists of a combination of self-paced presentations and interactive activities and quizzes, allowing you to go over the materials as many times as you need. Exercises and activities are designed to test your understanding of the materials covered. Find out more about it here.

  • Systematic Review Methods Consultation Hour

We furthermore offer a Systematic Review Methods Consultation Hour: a tailored methodological support every week in the form of drop-in sessions. Details can be found here.

Please contact us to discuss your interests and we can develop a tailored workshop for your department, be it a 1-hour slot at your regular lab meeting or a multi-day workshop for your department.

    Write us an e-mail!
