Clinician Scientist Retreat 2025

This year, the retreat took us and around 150 participants to the “Villa Elisabeth” in Berlin Mitte for an inspiring day. The aim of the one-day CSP retreat was to strengthen the interdisciplinary networking of the fellows. The (Junior) (Digital) Clinician Scientists helped design the program from the bottom up, which was reflected in the diverse range of topics and exchange formats: The topics ranged from clinical and experimental studies on cell and animal models to modern tools, analysis pipelines, and AI-based applications and therapeutic approaches in translational medicine. The scientific project presentations were supplemented by practical experience reports on topics such as patient and stakeholder involvement, offering valuable insights from everyday clinical practice.

The numerous topics were presented in a variety of formats: from keynote speeches to 3-minute pitches and poster sessions to interactive workshops on topics such as “International experience, “Writing proposals” and “Mastering the trilemma”. 

We were delighted to welcome Prof. Dr. Ulrich Kintscher, Vice Dean for Research (Clinical Affairs) at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, as our keynote speaker, and Prof. Dr. Christopher Baum, Chair of the BIH Board of Directors and Chief Translational Research Officer of Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, for a keynote speech on the mission of the BIH. It is also worth noting that Dr. Frank Wissing, Secretary General of the German Medical Faculty Association (MFT), and Miriam Pittet, MFT consultant, presented the ECLiPSE cooperation project (“Establishment of Clinician Scientist Programs at Medical Faculties: Status and Expectations”).
