Health information systems / Communication standards (in practise) for participants of the (Digital) Clinician Scientist Program (Part 1/2)

Due to ongoing digitalization and the enormous increase in the amount of health data collected, greater efficiency in information processing in the healthcare sector is becoming increasingly important in order to guarantee the quality of medical care processes. Optimal communication between hospitals, laboratories, office-based physicians and pharmacies requires that data are collected in a structured way and are electronically exchangeable. The introduction of uniform international communication standards is essential for common data processing and data exchange between different information systems.

The course content will include the following aspects (subject to change):

Implementation and evaluation of information and communication systems in health care
Interoperability and interfaces of hospital information systems
Data exchange formats

The theoretical course contents are accompanied by practical tasks, whereby the newly acquired knowledge can be consolidated and transferred to classical and personal use cases. Prof. Dr. Fabian Prasser, Professor for Medical Informatics at the BIH, and Prof. Dr. Sylvia Thun, Director for eHealth and Interoperability at the BIH, are responsible for the content of the course.

Due to the current situation, both seminars will take place online via GoToMeeting. You will receive the access data and the link for participation after registration.

Members of the (Digital) Clinician Scientist Program have the opportunity to receive credit points for their respective funding program for participation in the course.
