At the grand opening of the Käthe Beutler Building, Federal Research Minister Anja Karliczek, Governing Mayor of Berlin Michael Müller and the heads of the participating facilities will deliver the welcoming remarks. The new research facility is named after the medical pioneer and pediatrician Käthe Beutler, who studied medicine as a young woman in the 1920s and who was active in both the scientific and medical fields before leaving Germany for the United States because of her Jewish heritage. On the occasion of the unveiling of a commemorative plaque for Käthe Beutler, her son Frederick Beutler, also a scientist, and her grandson Bruce Beutler, Nobel Prize winner in medicine, will pay tribute to the memory of their mother and grandmother. Dr. Gideon Joffe, Chairman of the Board of the Jewish Community of Berlin, will contribute a greeting to the event. Scientists who will be moving into the Käthe Beutler Building with their laboratories will present their work during the opening ceremony.

The event will take place online. The livestream for the event is only accessible via registration.
