Startupbootcamp Digital Health is with more than 400 mentors from the health industry one of the largest Startup Accelerator programs in Europe. In addition to Berlin, the program is also implemented in Miami, USA, Chengdu and China. During the early-stage of their development, the digital health start-ups will get hands-on mentoring for the development of their products and services based on digital technologies for improved health care. In addition to BIH, Boehringer Ingelheim, Deutsche Apotheker- und Ärztebank, Dentons, Munich Re, Sanofi and Vilua support the program.

Each year ten international start-ups are selected for the program. In 2018, two future entrepreneurs from the Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin will also take part in the program. Dr. Ella Maria Kadas from the NeuroCure Clinical Research Center and her team are developing a product in the project called “Nocturne” that is based on optical coherence tomography and supports the diagnosis, therapy decisions and disease monitoring of neurological diseases. Dr. Dietmar Frey from the Department of Neurosurgery, whose team is developing a solution based on machine learning for the prediction of strokes and personalized therapy optimization in the "PREDICTioN 2020" project, will also be present. PREDICTioN 2020 previously completed the "Digital Health Accelerator" program of Berlin Health Innovations, the joint technology transfer unit of BIH and Charité.

"The cooperation with Startupbootcamp is important to us in order to advance digital health start-ups measurably and sustainably. The program is therefore an element of our strategy to continuously increase the number of spin-offs in the field of digital medicine. We are very pleased that two teams of the Charité will participate in the program", says Dr. Rolf Zettl, Chief Financial Officer of the BIH and the Board Member responsible for Berlin Health Innovations.

For three months, the selected start-ups will work closely with mentors and program partners to further sharpen their products and business models and to enable market entry through the acquisition of investors. The program will end with an one-day "Demo Day" at which the results will be presented to high-ranking representatives from politics and business on November 27, 2018.
