Abstract

Planning a research collaboration with industry?

Collaborations with industry are often crucial for translational life-science projects to succeed. However, they have to be taken with caution.

In this SPARK Europe Webinar "Collaborative Research & Development with Industry", Johanna Holldack, MD by training specialized in pediatric oncology with 30 years of experience in academia (university of Essen, Harvard, Freiburg) and the pharmaceutical industry (Behringwerke, Chiron, Medigene, etc), will illustrate with examples from her own experience the potential and the risk behind partnerships between academia and industry.

After this online lecture, you will have gained insight into the following questions:

  • What are the advantages and disadvantages of such an endeavor?
  • How do you get industry contacts and identify the right partner?
  • What are the pit falls?
  • What are possible funding sources?
