Early and intermediate career women scientists are offered the opportunity to network with a distinguished researcher or a person active in the field of technology transfer. During this open, informal seminar, topics such as career planning, conducting negotiations, and entrepreneurship will be discussed.
Gesche Joost will be our guest and will share insights from her career journey.
ABOUT GESCHE JOOST
Prof. Dr. Gesche Joost conducts research and development projects in the areas of human-computer-interaction, wearable computing, as well as user-centered design and participation internationally. She is professor for Design Research at the Berlin University of the Arts and since 2005 heading the Design Research Lab and Research Director for Interactive Textiles at DFKI, the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence since 2016. As assistant professor for Interaction Design & Media at the Technical University of Berlin (2007 – 2010) she was building up the Design & Usability group at Telekom Innovation Laboratories. She received the young talent award for science from the mayor of Berlin (2009) and became a distinguished research fellow at the University of Technology Sydney (2014).
She is on the board of German Society for Design Theory and Research, and the German National Academic Foundation. She was appointed by the Federal Government of Germany as Digital Champion for the EU commission (2014-2018) and acts as an expert advisor for the Federal Government of Germany. Since 2015, she is a member of the Supervisory Board of SAP SE. Since 2018 and of ING DiBa AG and Ottobock SE & Co. KGaA. Gesche is a co-founder of the non-for-profit company Calliope engaging in digital education for school children in Germany.
