Metabolomics

Metabolomics attempts to undertake a global analysis of all metabolites within a cell or biological system. In translational medicine, it is most frequently used to compare different populations to study disease, identify potentially new diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers and to understand disease processes in more detail. A subsection of metabolomics, called lipidomics, concentrates on analyzing lipids and fats.
The BIH Metabolomics Platform pursues mass spectrometry metabolomics research with clear translational medicine potential. We are particularly interested in gut, heart and brain health and the interaction between them. If you are interested in working with us, please contact us with full details of your project. We are based in the Käthe-Beutler-Haus Campus Buch.

Autumn workshop on Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry-based Metabolomics!
The BIH Metabolomics Platform invites you to join our practical course on Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry-based Metabolomics from 10th to 12th of November 2026. The course takes place at the BIH Metabolomics Platform (Käthe-Beutler-House) on Campus Buch.
Registration for the Metabolomics Workshop 2026 is now closed. If you would like to be added to the waiting list or have any other questions regarding the workshop please contact Raphaela Fritsche (raphaela.fritsche@bih-charite.de).
