Regeneration by Stem Cells and International Stem Cell Registry
Andreas Kurtz
The potency of stem cells is used to create artificial organs and organ models. This research group establishes suitable stem cells to enable the creation of organ models – particularly of the kidney. The aim is to make these models morphologically and functionally realistic enough to resemble human tissues and organs. These can then be used to investigate the causes of disease, to test drugs, or as organ replacements. Data on pluripotent stem cells and their fields of application are collected in a database, evaluated, and made available to the international community as a central resource
- Generation and genetic editing of induced pluripotent stem cells
- Establishment of renal organoids for research, disease modeling and clinical application
- Digital stem cell research
