GenDiMedNet aims to systematically improve gender-sensitive medical care with the help of digital and interactive technologies. It is based on the fact that many diseases, symptoms and treatment outcomes differ depending on gender, but these differences have not been sufficiently taken into account in medical practice to date. This can lead to misdiagnoses or delayed diagnoses, as well as less effective treatments.

The focus is a network centre that supports researchers in identifying gender-specific characteristics and integrating them into digital health solutions. To this end, strategies for user-centred design of digital applications are being developed in collaboration with researchers and future users. In order to enable the reuse of the health data collected and reduce gender-specific data gaps, ways of standardising data are also being considered.

By taking gender-specific factors into account, GenDiMedNet is helping to ensure that health technologies can be used equally by people of different genders.
