Open Data Seminar
The workshop is aimed at researchers from the four partner institutions of the Berlin University Alliance (Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin) as well as the MDC and the BIH.
The BIH QUEST Center, in cooperation with the four partner institutions of the Berlin University Alliance, is offering a seminar on Open Data. Please also note the other dates offered. These take place at various locations and online.
Course Description
This three-hour seminar provides an overview of making data freely available (open data) and the subsequent use of such data. It consists of a mixture of lectures and practical exercises in the group and on the PC.
The workshop will answer the following questions:
- What is open data and why is it important to share data?
- How do I choose a suitable repository for archiving?
- How do I ensure that my data is easy to find and accessible?
- How do I ensure that my data are also re-usable in the long term?
- How do I search for useful data sets and how do I quote them?
Learning Objectives
- Participants know the reasons for sharing research data

Target Audience
BIH, CHA, BUA, MDC: research fellows, PhDs
Participation Requirements
The workshop is intended for all-qualification-level researchers. No prior knowledge of open data is required.
Lecturer
Dr. Evgeny Bobrov is the team leader Open Data and Research Data Managementat at the QUEST Center of the Berlin Institute of Health. He advises on the sharing of biomedical data and implements activities that promote open data.
