BIH Digital Medicine Lecture Series
In spring 2021, the BIH Translation Hub Digital Medicine launched a new online lecture series. The lectures will feature discussions with leading international experts and scientists in the fields of Digital Health and Data Sciences.
Lecture 4: A Novel Care Approach Utilizing Digital Technologies for Post-Operative and Procedural Patients: Care Hotel and the Mayo Clinic
On May 17, 2023 Ryan M. Chadha (Assistant Professor and Perioperative Medicine, Division Chair of Multispeciality Anesthesiology at the Mayo Clinic Jacksonville) and Michael J. Maniaci (Associate Professor of Medicine, Enterprise Medical Director of Virtual Care in the Mayo Clinic Center for Digital Health, the Enterprise Physician Lead for the Advanced Care at Home program, and the current Medical Director of Mayo Clinic Hospital in Florida) talked about a novel care approach utilizing digital technologies for post-operative and prdocedural. Lecture 3: Practical Mechanisms for Generating Anonymous Data
On August 26, 2021 Khaled El Emam (School of Epidemiology and Public Health, University of Ottawa; Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute; Electronic Health Information Laboratory, CHEO Research Institute) talked about practical mechanisms for generating anonymous data. Chair: Fabian Prasser (BIH Professor for Medical Informatics at BIH and Charité, Member of the Translation Hub Steering Committee).
Lecture 2: Ensuring Machine Learning for Healthcare Works for All
On June 24, 2021, Leo Anthony Celi (MIT Laboratory for Computational Physiology, Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center) talked about exclusions and gaps in the medical knowledge system and about structural reforms to ensure that the field is both equitable and ethical by design. Moderation: Felix Balzer (Charité, Einstein Center Digital Future, elected speaker of the Steering Committee of the Translation Hub Digital Medicine).
Lecture 1: Health Data Platform Solutions
Moyez Dharsee, Susan Gilbert Evans and Fan Dong from Indoc Research opened the new lecture series on April 22, 2021, describing opportunities and technologies underlying modern health data platforms and discussing sustainable models for managing, developing and operating these platforms. The focus was on the Charité/BIH Virtual Research Environment.
