The diverse program offered a vibrant cross-section of the four BIH sections, highlighting the many ways in which translation is practiced across the institute. Through 12 scientific talks, 8 flash talks, 2 panel discussions, and 66 posters, researchers presented current projects and initiatives ranging from innovative data-driven approaches to patient-centered studies and new models of interdisciplinary collaboration.

The program also included a fireside chat with founders from the BIH ecosystem, who shared their experiences at the intersection of science and entrepreneurship. They spoke about motivation, challenges, and the role of the BIH network in supporting their translational paths. In the “BIH Voices” panel, representatives from different career stages discussed their perspectives on research, career development, and collaboration at BIH, underscoring the importance of an open, appreciative culture and a strong sense of community for successful translation.

Alongside the scientific sessions, numerous departments and CORE units showcased their work, demonstrating how closely infrastructure, research, and clinical application are interconnected at BIH. These services and platforms form the backbone of translational research and play a crucial role in ensuring that new ideas are rapidly brought into practice.

The day concluded with the poster awards ceremony, honoring the three best posters and celebrating the commitment and quality of work of many early-career scientists. The proud winners were: Marta Cagna, Marcel Finke und Andreas Magg.

The BIH Scientific Symposium 2025 impressively demonstrated what defines the BIH community: dedication, openness, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a shared commitment to advancing translation in all its facets. The day ended with new ideas, strengthened networks, and a renewed sense of belonging to a strong and vibrant community.
