Berlin Organoid Symposium 2026 Brings Together International Research Community

Organised by Prof. Ludovic Vallier’s research group at the Berlin Institute of Health at Charité (BIH), with Dylan Liabeuf, Anastasiia Maksiuk, Daniella Fradin and Katja Püstow leading the organisation, the second Berlin Organoid Symposium brought together over 220 international scientists at Bayer Berlin on 6–7 October 2026, featuring 30 scientific talks and 60 poster presentations.
From Fundamental Biology to Clinical Translation
Building on the success of its first edition in 2025, the second Berlin Organoid Symposium brought together leading international researchers to explore the expanding applications of organoids, from stem cell biology, tissue development and self-organisation to disease modelling, regenerative medicine and personalised therapies.
The scientific programme featured keynote lectures by Kim Jensen (University of Copenhagen) and Nikolaus Rajewsky (Max Delbrück Center), alongside talks by Gray Camp, Amanda Andersson-Rolf, Mattia Gerli, Irene Talon, Anna Dowbaj, Sasha Mendjan, Cornelia Schwayer, Ludovic Vallier, Milad Rezvani, Delilah Hendriks, Andreas Hocke, Lukas Ehlen, John De Vos, Michael Sigal, Tim Schmäche, Sina Bartfeld, Harald Stachelscheid, Agnieszka Rybak-Wolf, Mina Gouti, Benedetta Artegiani and Eva-Maria Dehne, among others.
A particular highlight was the presentation of cutting-edge, often unpublished research, encouraging open scientific discussions and the exchange of emerging ideas. The programme also explored how advanced imaging, spatial transcriptomics, computational biology and bioengineering are transforming organoid research and accelerating its translation into biomedical applications.
Fostering Scientific Exchange and Future Collaborations
Beyond the scientific presentations, the symposium placed strong emphasis on supporting early-career researchers. Selected PhD students and postdoctoral scientists presented their work alongside established experts, while 60 poster presentations provided further opportunities for discussion and networking.
The symposium connected researchers, clinicians and industry representatives, highlighting the growing potential of organoids for understanding human biology, developing new therapies and providing alternatives to animal experimentation.
With Bayer as venue partner and the support of scientific and industry sponsors, the symposium reinforced Berlin’s position as an international hub for organoid research.
With over 220 participants and a vibrant atmosphere of scientific exchange, the second Berlin Organoid Symposium demonstrated the growing momentum of the field and laid the groundwork for new collaborations bridging fundamental discoveries and clinical applications.
Strengthening Berlin’s International Organoid Research Community
With over 220 participants, the symposium demonstrated the growing international momentum of organoid research and Berlin’s role in connecting fundamental discoveries with translational applications.
The symposium was made possible with the support of Bayer AG as venue partner and Qkine as Platinum Sponsor, alongside the support of STEMCELL Technologies, Corning Life Sciences, 10x Genomics, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Leica Biosystems and Abcam. We thank all our partners and sponsors for their valuable support in facilitating scientific exchange and collaboration.
The second Berlin Organoid Symposium reinforced the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in advancing organoid technologies and their applications in biomedical research, while laying the groundwork for future international partnerships.
