The SHAIPED consortium demonstrates the European Commission's ambition to foster a network of dynamic actors that use data at European level while respecting the highest data protection standards. With 30 partners from 11 Member States, the SHAIPED consortium is the largest to date, comprising the future health data access points of the European Health Data Space (EHDS). The project is a continuation of the pilot project for the EHDS, with which the HDH was commissioned by the European Commission and which aims to develop a European infrastructure for the secondary use of health data. In the age of artificial intelligence, a major challenge is to gain access to real data for medical devices in order to train, test and validate these tools. Integrating these devices into health information systems (HIS) and proving their clinical effectiveness are also major challenges. The SHAIPED consortium is now addressing these issues in several working groups.
