Science Award 2026 for Milad Rezvani

Dr. Milad Rezvani, principal investigator and alumnus of the BIH Charité Clinician Scientist Program “Excellence Track,” has been awarded the 2026 Science Award of the Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition (GPGE). The award ceremony took place on April 18 during this year’s GPGE Annual Meeting.
Each year, the society honors outstanding scientific work in the fields of pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition with this award, which is endowed with €3,000. The Science Award is considered the highest distinction of the GPGE and is widely regarded in the German-speaking region (DACH) as a significant recognition of excellence in research in this field.
Dr. Rezvani received the award for his work entitled “Modeling Immune Lineage Co-Development in Human Pluripotent Stem Cell-derived Liver Organoids.” The award-winning study makes an important contribution to improving the understanding of pediatric liver diseases and opens up new perspectives for the development of innovative therapeutic approaches.
The selection of award recipients is carried out by a scientific committee consisting of the GPGE Executive Board and the Advisory Board for Scientific Studies and Research Awards. From all submitted works, the three best contributions are selected and presented at the annual meeting.
“This award is a great honor and highlights the importance of translational research for improving patient care,” says Dr. Rezvani. “Without the close collaboration between the pediatric clinic specializing in gastroenterology and the Berlin Center for Regenerative Therapies (BCRT), this work would not have been possible.”
