Statement BIH for the Month of Diversity
On the occasion of the European Month of Diversity, we are taking a stand for openness and inclusivity in science. For us, equal opportunities and diversity are more than just words- they are fundamental requirements for innovation and high- quality research.
For our research to truly benefit all patients and citizens, it is crucial to incorporate diverse perspectives from scientist and draw upon the experiences of a broad range of individuals. Through our intersectional equality and diversity policy, we strive to attract employees with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Our goal is to provide a work environment where everyone can reach their full potential without facing any disadvantages.
Considering gender and other dimensions of diversity in research is crucial for enabling personalized medicine and studying health impacts on specific groups.
Science and healthcare can only flourish in an independent environment where international collaboration and academic freedom serve as fundamental pillars. We strongly oppose attacks on academic freedom and threats against individual scientist. At the same time, we actively encourage open and constructive discussions within the scientific community and with the public.
