From 1-2 July 2015, Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI) and the German National Academy of Sciences are holding the international symposium “Big Data in Medicine” at the HPI campus in Potsdam.

The objective of this symposium is to support the exchange of scientists in different areas, to identify approaches for the implementation of Big Data in foundational biomedical research, individualized medicine and clinical practice and to discuss solutions to existing problems. The contributions and results of the symposium will be documented and published at its conclusion. Alf Wachsmann (MDC), head of the BIH Core Facility Administrative IT-Services, opens the 4th session "Handling of Patient Data" which starts at 11.40 a.m. on the second day of the symposium.
