WISSENSSTADT BERLIN 2021: The Virtual Brain - Understanding the human brain

Understanding the human brain is a great challenge - it is highly complex and very difficult to access experimentally. Petra Ritter and her team are researching techniques that make it possible to watch the brain at work and decipher its diverse functions. To do this, large amounts of data from different sources have to be brought together in computer simulations like pieces of a puzzle.
On the brain simulation platform "The Virtual Brain", personalised, digital avatars of patients' brains are created in order to then test certain therapies on the computer, for example how to intervene surgically in epilepsy. Find out how a smartphone app and neuro-headsets can be used to map one's own brain activity and how virtual reality glasses can be used to virtually walk inside one's own brain.
