The €1,000 prize honors UniWearables as one of the most outstanding science-based start-ups of the past year, which emerged from Science & Startups, the joint start-up service of Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and Technische Universität. The service provides access to joint programs and resources and supports founders from the university environment on their path to self-employment.
"This year's finalists once again impressively demonstrate how much creative, innovative potential Berlin has," says Olaf Schulz, Chief Representative of Berliner Sparkasse. A total of nine teams presented their business models live. An expert jury selected three winners, while the guests voted for the audience award. "Young companies like these are the future of Berlin's economy and as Berliner Sparkasse, we see it as part of our founding mission to strengthen them. With our "Science & Startups" start-up award, we bring business and science together and create more visibility for good, forward-looking ideas," says Olaf Schulz.
