Successes and next steps

This co-innovation program was launched in March 2024 in the form of a funding program whereby startups from Singapore had the opportunity to apply to ESG for a cooperation with Charité. From a total of ten applications received, we were able to successfully connect eight projects with a Charité Key Opinion Leader in the first phase. Seven of these projects are now moving on to the second phase.

List of projects and their Principal Investigators (PIs) entering the second phase of the Co-Innovation Program:

- Acumen: Prof Kappert, Dr Bauer

- QuantumTx: Prof Winkler

- Articares: Prof Meisel

- BioCheetah: Prof Schlomm

- Credo: Dr Kurth

- Restalyst: Dr Mohr

- Auristone: Prof Stintzing

The profiles of the participating startups and their innovative technologies can be found on the corresponding website: https://www.bihealth.org/en/translation/innovation-enabler/charite-bih-innovation/co-innovation-programme-enterprise-singapore/startups.

The next steps in the process

Firstly, the startups must develop a full proposal. This step is crucial, as the full proposal contains detailed information about the project, the planned activities and the expected results. The startups are not left to their own devices: they receive support from selected experts at Charité. This collaboration ensures that the proposals are scientifically sound and at the cutting edge of research.

After the successful conception of the full proposal, the next important step is the submission of the full proposal to ESG. The deadline for submission is 30 September 2024, and it is essential that the startups meet this deadline to be considered in the selection process and to receive funding from ESG. After the startups have submitted their full proposals and these have been successfully evaluated by ESG, two further important phases are imminent: contract drafting and project launch. January 2025 marks the official start of the project, during which the startups put their concepts into practice. The project launch is a crucial moment that sets the course for the future success of the innovation projects. Thanks to the careful preparation in the previous phases and the comprehensive support provided by Charité experts, the startups are well equipped to successfully put their ideas into practice and achieve sustainable improvements in the healthcare system.
