Musculoskeletal Cell Biology
Sven Geißler
The Musculoskeletal Cell Biology research group adopts an integrative and interdisciplinary approach to investigate the regeneration of musculoskeletal tissues. The group focuses on uncovering the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying impaired healing processes, such as those observed in bone repair, severe muscle injuries and age-related degeneration. Based on these mechanistic insights, the group develops innovative diagnostic and therapeutic strategies, such as modulating immune responses and targeting the regulation of adult progenitor cell function. The ultimate goal is to translate these approaches into clinically applicable concepts, ranging from predictive biomarkers to personalised treatment concepts that are tailored to the biological healing environment.
