MII extension modul – pathology report

The pathology report is a module of the German Medical Informatics Initiative’s (MII) core data set. It enables the standardized representation of the results of clinically requested examinations performed in pathology departments, including, where applicable, synoptic evaluations and structured additional information. Under the coordination of the CEI, a domain-specific data set with UML class diagrams and example documents was developed in an iterative, multi-professional process together with representatives of the German Society of Pathology (DGP) and the Federal Association of German Pathologists (BDP). On this basis, the data elements were transformed into interoperable FHIR® profiles and made available in a technical specification for nationwide use within the MII.
