Introduction to data science for (Digital) Clinician Scientists
The health care system is undergoing a major transformation due to the ongoing digitalization. In medicine, the extraction of information and knowledge from data and the associated opportunities in the area of data use are of particular importance in the age of Big Data. The application of data science in medical research and development opens up a variety of approaches for optimization. In addition to the more efficient design of processes, knowledge gained from data can make a decisive contribution to the improvement and individual adaptation of preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic measures. This not only helps to relieve the burden on medical personnel, but also brings great advantages for patients in the field of precision medicine.
The contents will include the following aspects (subject to change):
- data structures
- database systems
- basic principles of data analysis
- technical and methodical basics
- applications
Prof. Dr. Dominik Seelow, BIH Professor for Bioinformatics and Translational Genetics, is responsible for the content of the course.
Due to the current situation, the seminar will take place online via GoToMeeting. You will receive the access data and the link for participation after registration.
Members of the (Digital) Clinician Scientist Program have the opportunity to receive credit points for their respective funding program for participation in the course.
