QUEST Fund for Patient & Stakeholder Engagement

The call is closed.

The active engagement of patients and other stakeholders can increase the relevance and usefulness of research for those affected. To foster Patient & Stakeholder Engagement (PSE) at Charité, the BIH QUEST Center started a fund to support researchers with the implementation of PSE in their research projects.

Ten projects were funded in the first round of funding from the QUEST Fund for PSE. Further information

New Publication

The article "Citizen science approaches in medical and health research – Selected terms with focus on the degree of participation" was published in the Journal for Technology Assessment in Theory and Practice (TATuP) in December 2021. Citizen science approaches are practice in health research, however under different names. The article provides an overview to various terms and concepts of the patient and citizen engagement in research and discusses them in comparison, especially in relation to the level of engagement. Berliner Werkstatt Partizipative Forschung

For the fifth time, the "Berliner Werkstatt Partizipative Forschung" ("Berlin Participatory Research Workshop") took place on 11-12 March 2021. This year, it was conducted in an online format. It was organised by PartNet (Network for Participatory Health Research) in cooperation with the Institute for Social Health at the Catholic University of Applied Sciences Berlin. The PSE section of the QUEST Center offered the workshop "Quality and Impact of Engagement Processes in Health Research". This workshop served as a kick-off event for a series of discussions, in which various perspectives and visions on the above-mentioned topic were collected. Together, we want to answer these and further questions: What is "good" involvement of patients and other relevant stakeholders in health research? Which conditions are necessary to ensure that everyone engaged has a right to have a say and to counteract "tokenism"?

After the workshop, the working group Quality and Impact of Engagement Processes was founded.

A documentation of the event can be found here (in German).
