Patient & Stakeholder Engagement
One focus of the QUEST Center is to promote the involvement of patients and other stakeholders in the planning, implementation and evaluation of research projects. For that purpose, we conduct research projects to understand better what high-quality stakeholder engagement looks like. Up to date, patients and other stakeholders only rarely get involved in research projects in Germany. Therefore, we want to bring diverse relevant stakeholders together to strengthen and develop stakeholder engagement in health research. In addition, we provide project-specific consultations for those who are willing to involve stakeholders in their specific research projects. Moreover, we provide a series of trainings and workshops for those, who are interested in BIH and Charité.

New Project KOMPART
Building Patients’ Competencies for Active Engagement in Health Research
Active patient involvement in clinical research is increasingly recognized as essential, yet suitable training programs remain scarce in German-speaking countries. The BMFTR-funded KOMPART project addresses this gap through a participatory, modular online training program designed to prepare patients and patient representatives for active and equal involvement in academic research. The project is also presented on the website of the National Decade Against Cancer.

Online Training "Aktive Patient*innenbeteiligung in der Gesundheitsforschung" (in German)
In 2021, the project management agency DLR Projektträger, together with the Institut für qualifizierende Innovationsforschung & -beratung (IQIB), the BIH QUEST Center and the Deutsche Arbeitsgemeinschaft Selbsthilfegruppen e.V., offered for the first time an online training course on the successful planning of active patient engagement, especially in clinical research. Due to the high level of interest, we are now offering this course regularly once or twice a year (currently only in German).

Foster the involvement of patients and other stakeholders in the research process!
The QUEST Center supports the active engagement of patients and other stakeholders in health research (preclinical, clinical or health care research). The relevance and usefulness of research can be increased if the views and needs of patients and other stakeholders in the health care system are taken into account.
QUEST is offering this award of 1,000 € to first/last/corresponding BIH or Charité authors of publications of studies in which patients and/or other stakeholders were actively involved in the research process.
