BIH Stem Cell Lecture: Pluripotent cells: a tool to model development and to deliver definitive therapies for pediatric diseases

Prof. Vittorio Sebastiano, Stanford University - Department Obstetrics and Gynecology (Reproductive and Stem Cell Biology)

Host: Sebastian Diecke,

Organized by the Stem Cell Core Facility

The thread of Ariadne that connects germ cells, preimplantation development and pluripotent stem cells is the focus of Vittorio Sebastiano´s research, with a focus on human development. His long‐term goals are: i) Understanding the biology of germ cells and their ability to sustain early preimplantation development; ii) Understanding the mechanisms that regulate very early cell fate decisions in human embryos; iii) Understanding the biology of Pluripotent Stem Cells and the mechanisms that lead to their formation.
